Implants

Millions of Americans suffer tooth loss due to tooth decay, gum disease or injury. Missing teeth have a negative impact on confidence, self-esteem and, in addition, can change our facial appearance. For many years, the only options available for people with missing teeth were dental bridges and dentures.

Today, with modern dentistry, patients do not need to accept a life with missing teeth. Dental implants offer a permanent solution to these problems.

A cosmetic dentist now can implant a material that serves as a new root to replace the missing root. Sturdy titanium posts are anchored directly into the jawbone, providing a completely functional artificial root that serves as the anchor for a new artificial tooth or crown. The bone grows around the implanted post the same way bone grows around the natural root of a tooth.

The miraculous result? Dental implants that look, feel, and function exactly like a strong natural tooth.

Our highly trained and compassionate dental team at the Ahwatukee Dentistry provide you with a dental solution that will change your life forever. You will need a consultation to determine your candidacy for dental implants.

Dr. Le will let you know if you are a candidate for Dental Implants because it is only recommended for select cases only, because it may not the best option for everyone, and some patients require more specialized dental care.

Reasons for dental implants:

  • Replace one or more missing teeth without affecting adjacent teeth.
  • Resolve joint pain or bite problems caused by teeth shifting into missing tooth space.
  • Restore a patient’s confident smile.
  • Restore chewing, speech, and digestion.
  • Restore or enhance facial tissues.
  • Support a bridge or denture, making them more secure and comfortable.

Why Dental Implants?

Once you learn about dental implants, you finally realize there is a way to improve your life. When you lose several teeth – whether it’s a new situation or something you have lived with for years – chances are you have never become fully accustomed to losing such a vital part of yourself.

Dental implants can be your doorway to renewed self-confidence and peace of mind.

What does getting dental implants involve?

For most patients, the placement of dental implants involves two surgical procedures. First, implants are placed within your jawbone. For the first three to six months following surgery, the implants are beneath the surface of the gums gradually bonding with the jawbone. You should be able to wear temporary dentures and eat a soft diet during this time. At the same time, your dentist is forming new replacement teeth.

After the implant has bonded to the jawbone, the second phase begins. Dr. Tam Le will uncover the implants and attach small posts that protrude through the gums and will act as anchors for the artificial teeth. When the artificial teeth are placed, these posts will not be seen. The entire procedure usually takes six to eight months. Most patients experience minimal disruption in their daily life.
